A New City

"Oh, aha. I'll come and get you at the door." Dave replied as he went from his room after picking a hat, and opened the front door. He greeted her with a smile. "Hey again," he said.

"Hey."Meri stood there looking at Daves face and then suddenly remembered"THE COFFE!"Realising she screemed at him she blushed and said"Sorry.I um forgot the coffe at that cafe."YOU ARE SO DUMB MERI!!

"Oh, well..." he scratched the back of his head. "I could come with you to the shop if you want. It isn't that far, after all." He kinda felt sorry for making her come here. "Sorry for making you rush over here..." He mumbled, looking down at the ground.

"Oh.I.Um.I rush over of my own free will hehe.but it's ok I don't need the coffee.Can I come in?Or would you like to stand there and stare at me for another 5 minutes?"Meri blushed realising that she said that out loud."um..."

Whoops. Way to go, Dave.
"Oh, sorry! I.. uhh.. come on in!" Dave replied, stuttering some more as he moved out of the way to let her in. He seriously needed to be more sociable if he wants to last a while in this city. For some strange reason, his power didn't seem to work on this girl. Strange, but relieving. He wouldn't want to see Meri die... after all, they've just met.

Meri had been hearing his thoughts the whole time and let a question slip into his head on accident."What powers why would I die?" OH.NO.OH GOSH!WHY THE HELL DID I DO THAT?!?

Dave turned to her when he heard her ask a question. "Did you say something?" He asked her, brow raised. I could have sworn I just heard her answer my thoughts...

"UM...YES... I MEAN NO...Well I MEAN kinda?"OH GOD HE HEARD ME!WHAT THE HELL AM I GUNNA SAY?I'm a vampire so we can comunicate to others through thought...NO WAY!

"Oh... well okay." He closed the door behind her as she came in, and lead her into the living room around the corner. "Don't worry about the shoes," he told her as they got there. "So... uhmm..."

Following Dave Meri says"WELL ANSWER ME!And aren't you gunna ask how I could do that?You seem oddly normal about that.That's usualy the first thing guys ask if I let a word slip I mean that's why I'm not dating and oh god your gonna kill me!"

"Wait, wait, slow down! What are you talking about? Did you REALLY speak in my mind?" Dave asked, firing countless questions back at her. "And how DID you do that?"
She may never even know that out of both of us, I'm the freak, he thought miserably.

Getting irritated with her crush Meri yells at him showing true anger"SURE YOUR A FREAK BUT I'M A MONSTER!well ex-monster at least They kicked me out 'cuz I refused an order.Oh and my poor butler sebastian doesn't even know.Why can't you understand?"Meri calms down but then cries.

Oh boy, now you've done it. Nice one Dave! His thoughts yelled at him, echoing in his head over and over.
"Don't cry..." he told her, putting his hands on her shoulders. "Look, I really don't know how you did that, but I've figured you can read and communicate through minds... I'm sorry, I didn't want to make you cry like this! Or at all, really!" Dave sighed. "You're no monster, Meridith." He looked at her with worry in his eyes. The last thing he wanted was to hurt another person.

Meri smiled but didn't realise her anger brought out her fangs."I might as well tell you I'm a..."

Dave saw her fangs glistening in the chandelier's light. His legs were frozen, and his feet felt like they weighed a million pounds. "Vampire...?" He asked, completely confused and shocked.
This isn't real... is it?

"Is that bad?Does that change anything?Do you not like me anymore?Or were you just being nice to me like you didn't have any feelings for me at all, and I'm just a dumb girl who forgot to eat beore she came here?Not that I feed on PEOPLE 'cuz I'm vegan so I only drink from animals."Meri,still crying, walk out and sits on the stairs right by the Dave's apartment and just cries.And sends into Dave's head"I'm sorry I'm not normal."

"No, no..." Dave said, following her slowly and sitting beside her on the stairs. "It's fine, really." He looked at her, smiling slightly, and sighed. If you think you're not normal, then you should know that I'm not either. I'm... Dave paused to think about how he could possibly tell her. I guess you could say I've got something wrong with me. I can see how people die.

Stops crying and looks up."Then that's why you can't see ME die.I'm immortal and I don't plan on being staked.Most Vampire stake THEMSELVES because they think they've lived too long.By the way how old are you?"

"Turned nineteen this spring," Dave said, fixing the brim of his hat again. "And don't worry. I doubt you'll get staked around here. Who would do such a thing anyway?"

Meri looked down at herself."I guess no guy on earth would want to date an old hag like me colsidering I'm in my mid 900's.And anyway I gotta go I'm getting hungry." Meri leaves to find some semi large squirrels.

When Meri was gone, Dave sat by himself on the stairs, looking down at his shoes as he thought about what she had told him. He knew very well that it would be no good hanging around vampires, but that doesn't mean he doesn't want to be her friend. After all, she was kinda cute... even for an immortal that was almost a millenium old.

I wonder if she'll come talk to me again, Dave thought hopefully.

Huh?! He jumped to his feet, searching around, but it was as empty as it had been before Meridith had gotten there. That was when a lightbulb lit. Oh, that's right! You can read minds. The thought of this made him happier.

Dave laughed out loud, as well as mentally. Well, feel free to call me anytime. He knew that she wouldn't be able to see him smiling, but he did anyway. There was just something about this girl...
